Berberitze (Berberis vulgaris) - Tinktur
Barberry (Berberis vulgaris) Tincture

Barberry Tincture (1 : 4) Barberry (Sauerdorn, Berberis vulgaris) tincture made from ground root bark What is barberry (Berberis vulgaris)? Barberry is known by several names in German-speaking countries, including Sauerdorn and Essigbeere. It is a shrub that can grow up to three metres tall and was originally native to North Africa. The name barberry is historically associated with the Berber people and later became established in Europe. Many hikers and wild animals have mixed feelings about this deciduous shrub, as contact with its thorns can be unpleasant. Its appearance, however, is striking. The yellow-brown to grey bark looks rather plain at first glance, but beneath it lies a bright yellow layer. The fragrant flowers also shine in a vivid yellow colour and are reminiscent of buttercups. Over the seasons, scarlet, edible fruits develop. Because these fruits have a naturally very sour taste, the German folk names Essigbeere and Sauerdorn became common. In terms of habitat, Berberis vulgaris prefers dry to moderately moist, calcareous soils and grows in light as well as partial shade, often at woodland edges and in light alluvial areas. For our products, we use ground root bark from selected cultivation as the basis of this tincture. A traditionally known plant from antiquity and the Middle Ages Berberis vulgaris is described in historical herbals and traditional plant literature. The root bark and its naturally occurring plant compounds are often the focus of these botanical descriptions. Among the botanically interesting constituents of barberry are various alkaloids. One of the best-known is berberine, a naturally occurring plant compound also described in specialist literature, including by Stephen Harrod Buhner. Barberry tincture with a clear recipe This food supplement combines barberry root bark with ethanol as the extraction medium, water and traces of organic apple cider vinegar. Barberry Tincture Ingredients IngredientAmount per recommended daily intake Extract from root bark of the barberry shrub, alcoholically extracted(Berberis vulgaris) from approx. 2000 mg of root bark used Extraction medium ethanol approx. 4.5 g In addition, the tincture contains traces of acetic acid from organic apple cider vinegar (less than 1%) and pure water. Barberry Tincture Recommended Intake The longer-term intended daily dose is 264 drops (approx. 8 millilitres) per day, ideally divided into 6 intakes of about 44 drops each. Start with a total of only 200 drops (a little over 6 millilitres) per day – or approximately six times 33 drops – and then increase over a few days to the longer-term daily dose. Use the supplied pipette to count the drops. Notes Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced and varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Store protected from heat, dry and strictly out of reach of children. The stated recommended daily intake must not be exceeded. The tincture is naturally cloudy and must be shaken before use. A slightly unpleasant taste comes directly from the taste of barberry and is characteristic of the product. Important: Contains 70% alcohol by volume. This product is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women or for children. If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, liver disease or heart disease, please consult a doctor before taking this product.

Barberry tablets, 300 mg root powder Barberry (Berberis vulgaris) tablets made from ground root bark Tablet size 16mm * 8mm Powder amount per tablet 300mg What is barberry (Berberis vulgaris)? Barberry is known by several names in German-speaking regions, including Sauerdorn and Essigbeere. It is a shrub that can grow up to three metres high and is traditionally associated with a long history of use and cultivation in Europe. The name Berberitze is often linked to the historical term Berber. Some hikers and many wild animals have mixed feelings about this deciduous shrub, as contact with its thorns can be unpleasant. Visually, however, barberry has a distinctive appearance. Its yellow-brown to grey bark looks rather plain at first glance, but beneath it lies a bright yellow layer. The fragrant flowers, also bright yellow, are reminiscent of buttercups. Over the seasons, scarlet edible fruits develop. Because of their distinctly sour taste, the common names Essigbeere and Sauerdorn became established. In terms of habitat, barberry prefers dry to moderately moist soils that are also calcareous. Since Berberis vulgaris can grow in light as well as partial shade, it is often found at forest edges and in light floodplain areas. For our products, we use ground roots from selected cultivation. Barberry root contains characteristic plant constituents such as alkaloids, including berberine. Barberry in traditional botanical literature Berberis vulgaris was described in botanical and herbal literature as early as antiquity. It was also mentioned in medieval herbals and traditional sources. These references are provided solely for botanical and cultural-historical context and are not intended as a description of medical use. The special role of barberry in botanical literature is linked, among other things, to its characteristic plant constituents. Berberine, a naturally occurring constituent, is frequently mentioned in specialist literature. Barberry is also known from publications by Stephen Harrod Buhner. Berberitze (Berberis vulgaris) - 100g Pulver
Barberry (Berberis vulgaris) - 100g Powder

Barberry Powder Barberry (Berberis vulgaris) powder made from root bark What is barberry (Berberis vulgaris)? In our region, barberry is known by several names, including sauerdorn and vinegar berry. It is a shrub originally native to North Africa and is said to owe its name to the Berber population of that region. After the plant was introduced to Europe, the name barberry became established. Barberry can be a plant of contrasts for hikers and wildlife alike. Contact with its thorns is unpleasant, but its appearance is striking. The bark of the shrub is initially yellow-brown to grey, with a bright yellow layer beneath. The fragrant flowers are also bright yellow, similar to buttercups, and develop over the seasons into scarlet, edible fruits. These fruits are known for their distinctly sour taste, which led to the traditional names vinegar berry and sauerdorn. As for its preferred location, barberry is selective. It grows best in dry to moderately moist, calcareous soils and can thrive in full sun as well as partial shade. It is often found at forest edges and in open riparian woodland. For our products, we use ground root bark. The root bark is finely milled and provided as a plant-based raw material in food-grade quality. The fine consistency makes the powder easy to weigh and suitable for different recipes and mixtures. Barberry in traditional herbal knowledge Berberis vulgaris was already described in traditional herbal knowledge in antiquity. Historical sources mention different plant parts and uses; these references are traditional in nature and do not constitute a claim about the effects of this product. Interest in barberry is associated, among other things, with its plant compound profile. These compounds include alkaloids such as berberine, which are often mentioned in botanical descriptions in connection with Berberis vulgaris. Our powder is a practical form for anyone looking for a finely milled plant-based raw material made from barberry root bark. Ingredients Barberry (Berberis vulgaris), root bark Note We offer the powder as a plant-based raw material (food-grade quality) without a specific intended use.
