What is Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera)?

Ashwagandha is a nightshade plant and has long been described in Ayurvedic plant tradition. Its role is often compared with ginseng in TCM, which is why Ashwagandha is also known as “Indian ginseng”. The origin of the nightshade plant is thought to be in Africa. However, Indian ginseng is also native to Pakistan, China, the Mediterranean region and India. The herbaceous shrub can reach a height of up to 2 metres and, with its oval leaves and cherry-like flowers, looks very similar to the well-known physalis. The hard red berries are not intended for consumption.

For food supplements, mainly the root is processed. This product uses ground ashwagandha root; it is not a root extract.

When producing our ashwagandha tablets, we follow traditional plant knowledge. We use ashwagandha roots from selected cultivation. They are carefully cut into small pieces, gently dried and finely ground. Only after all processing steps have passed our quality control is the raw material gently pressed into tablets.

Ashwagandha in the Ayurvedic tradition

Ashwagandha has been described in Ayurveda for more than 3000 years and still holds an important place there today. Indian ginseng is traditionally classified in Ayurvedic plant knowledge and is known to many people as part of a mindful plant routine.

This classification describes the traditional use of the plant and is not a statement about the prevention, treatment or cure of diseases.

Beyond Ayurvedic teaching, Ashwagandha is known by several names, including Withania somnifera, Indian ginseng and winter cherry. These names are used for botanical identification and do not imply any specific effect.

Withania somnifera contains typical plant constituents, such as alkaloids including anaferine, anahygrine, cuscohygrine, nicotine, tropine and withasomnine. Withanolides include somniferanolide, somniwithanolide, withaferin A and withasomniferanolide.

Typical constituents of Ashwagandha

The ashwagandha root used here naturally contains typical plant constituents, including steroidal alkaloids and lactones, in particular:

Whitanin, Whitaninin, Pseudowhitanin, Somnin, Somniferin, Somniferinin, Tropin, Pseudotropin, so-called Ashwagandhanolides, Cuscwohygrin, Anferin, Anhydrin, Sitoindoside 7⁄8 and various others.

Tablet composition:

This food supplement contains ashwagandha root powder and the excipients listed below for tablet form. The ground root provides a consistent amount per tablet.

Ashwagandha root powder (Withania somnifera) approx. 1350 mg ground root

In addition, the tablets contain two common cellulose excipients with the abbreviations MCC / HPMC for tablet stability, as well as a very small amount (a weight share of only a few per mille) of magnesium stearate.

Suggested use

Take 1 tablet 3 times daily with plenty of liquid. Preferably take each tablet before a meal.

It is better not to take these 3 tablets per day together, but separately (e.g. one tablet in the morning, one at noon and one in the evening) with sufficient liquid. Taking them with or shortly after meals is generally not recommended; taking them before a meal is therefore preferable. This recommendation does not have to be followed strictly.

Notes

If you notice tiredness or drowsiness after consumption, it is better to take the 3 tablets only in the evening, ideally before a small meal.

Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced and varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Store dry, protected from heat and out of reach of children. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake.

Endlich wieder erholsamer Schlaf – Danke Ashwagandha!

Triphala tablets, 480 mg active ingredient

Triphala Tablets, 480 mg active ingredient Tablet size → 16mm * 8mm Active ingredient per tablet → 480mg The traditional three-fruit blend from Ayurveda What is Triphala? Triphala is one of the most important remedies in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. This dietary supplement contains the myrobalan fruits Amalaki, Haritaki, and Bibhitaki. Amalaki is also known as the “Indian gooseberry.” The fruit grows on the Amla tree in tropical and subtropical regions of India. Botanically, the small and very crooked tree belongs to the spurge family. Its yellow fruit resembles a mix of gooseberry and grape, yet it is round and marked with light stripes. Haritaki also grows in tropical regions. The evergreen tree reaches heights of up to 20 meters and produces brownish, uniform fruits that may not look very appealing at first glance, but hold incredible potential. Bibhitaki likewise grows in India. Its nut-like, brown fruits come from a deciduous tree of the wing-seed family that can reach up to 30 meters in height. In producing our tablets, we follow the principles of Ayurveda and use only organically grown fruits. These are carefully selected in equal parts according to strict quality standards, gently dried, finely ground, and pressed into tablets with care. Harmony for body, mind, and spirit Few traditional Ayurvedic blends are held in such high esteem as Triphala. This comes as no surprise, since the trio of active fruits contains a wide range of purely natural compounds. In Ayurveda, these play an essential role, as the teachings place great emphasis on everything Mother Earth provides. According to Ayurveda, Triphala brings body, soul, and mind into harmony, thereby supporting a long and happy life. Amalaki supports the so-called Pitta energy (the Dosha of fire) and provides the body with warmth for a smooth metabolism. In India, Amalaki is mainly used to support the immune system, for skin problems, and resilience. Haritaki is associated in Ayurveda with the Vata Dosha, which symbolizes the elements of air and water. Accordingly, Haritaki is primarily used to support the stomach and intestines. Bibhitaki is linked with Kapha energy (the Dosha of water and earth). In Ayurveda, the fruit is used to support normal muscle function and the development of natural fat tissue. Indian folk medicine also applies Bibhitaki for respiratory, digestive, and skin-related concerns. Amalaki fruit: Amalaki, the berry of the Indian Amla tree (botanical name: Emblica officinalis), represents Pitta, the Dosha of fire. In India, metabolic disturbances and problems with the body’s heat balance are often attributed to an imbalance in this Dosha. Amalaki is rich in Vitamin C (sources report over 800mg per 100g) and other antioxidants, which can be beneficial for metabolism. Overall, the fruit is considered to have a lasting vitalizing effect. Haritaki fruit: Haritaki, known botanically as Terminalia chebula, is the fruit of an evergreen tree, and like the Amla tree, belongs to the myrobalans. In tropical regions, this tree can grow up to 20 meters tall. In the first half of the year, it bears bright green leaves, while from October to January, it is adorned with delicate white blossoms. From these develop the oval, brownish fruits known as Haritaki. In Ayurveda, Haritaki represents the Vata Dosha, which symbolizes air and water. Imbalances in Vata are believed to particularly affect the digestive tract. Bibhitaki fruit: The third fruit in the Triphala blend is Bibhitaki (botanical name: Terminalia belerica). This initially green fruit comes from a “beleric” myrobalan tree, a deciduous species that can grow up to 30 meters tall and is native to India. Belonging to the wing-seed family, the tree is valued for both its oil-rich seeds and its fruits – Bibhitaki. In Ayurveda, Bibhitaki is associated with the Kapha Dosha, representing earth and water. Triphala without questionable additives: This dietary supplement contains no artificial colors, no flavorings, no preservatives, no gelatin, no added sugar, no lactose, no gluten. Ingredients IngredientContent per daily doseInfo Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) approx. 320 mg Organic raw material Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) approx. 320 mg Organic raw material Bibhitaki (Terminalia belerica) approx. 320 mg Organic raw material Additionally contains two common and harmless cellulose excipients (MCC / HPMC) for tablet stability, both of purely plant-based origin, and a very small amount (only a few thousandths by weight) of the equally common and harmless substance magnesium stearate. Recommended intake Take 2 tablets daily with sufficient liquid. Notes Dietary supplements are not a substitute for a balanced and varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Turmeric (Curcuma longa) - Tablets, 660 mg active ingredient

Turmeric and Black Pepper, 660 mg plant material Tablet size 16mm * 8mm Plant material per tablet 660mg What is turmeric (Curcuma longa) with black pepper (Piper nigrum)? Most people know turmeric and black pepper primarily as spices. In this formula, both plant materials are combined in a practical tablet form. Turmeric and black pepper have a long tradition in Ayurveda and TCM. However, this product is intended as a neutral supplement to the daily diet. Turmeric belongs to the ginger family and originally comes from tropical regions of Asia. The plant is cultivated in Asia and Africa, among other regions. Curcuma longa is an approximately 1 metre tall plant that grows from a tuber. With its large stalked leaves and yellow flowers, it resembles the ginger plant. Piper nigrum belongs to the pepper family. The climbing plant grows up trees and can reach a height of up to 10 metres. Black pepper is made from the unripe fruits, which develop their wrinkled shape and black colour during drying. For the production of our tablets, we use carefully selected turmeric roots. After the above-ground parts of the plant have wilted, the roots are cut into small pieces, dried and finely ground. Once the raw materials have passed the intended inspection and processing steps, they are processed into pressed tablets. Turmeric and black pepper in your daily routine Turmeric has long been used in Indian culture as a spice and plant raw material. The yellow root is also known in traditional systems such as Ayurveda and TCM. These references are provided solely for botanical and cultural-historical context and do not constitute a health claim. Turmeric with black pepper contains plant-typical constituents such as curcuminoids, essential oils, sesquiterpenes, polysaccharides, hydroxycinnamic acid derivatives, peptides (e.g. tumerin), terpenes (phellandrene, cineole, borneol) and caporonic acid.
