Product information "Chinese Angelica (Angelica sinensis) Tincture"
Chinese Angelica tincture (1 : 4)
Chinese Angelica (Angelica sinensis) tincture made from ground roots
What is Chinese Angelica (Angelica sinensis)?
Chinese Angelica is known as Dong Quai and has long been part of traditional Chinese botanical practice. The nickname “female ginseng” also shows the special role Angelica sinensis has in this traditional context.
This umbelliferous plant is mainly found in central and western China.
At first glance, Angelica sinensis may seem rather modest despite reaching up to one metre in height. With its compound umbels and greenish-white flowers, the plant is described in traditional botanical practice. The aromatic, sweet and pungent roots are the main focus.
At Phönix der Lebenskraft, we draw on this traditional knowledge and use only the roots of Angelica sinensis in carefully selected quality.
More than “just” a traditionally known plant
The first written mention of Dong Quai dates back to around 2800 BC. Angelica sinensis has been described in TCM for a similarly long time, or possibly longer. In this tradition, the roots are assigned a special role within classical herbal traditions.
In TCM, Angelica sinensis is classified as warm, sweet and pungent and is traditionally assigned to the functional circles of liver, heart and spleen. This classification describes the traditional view and is not a promise of effect.
Chinese Angelica contains various plant constituents, such as essential oils, tannins, bitter iridoids, coumarins, ferulic acid, lactones, polyacetylenes, phytosterols, tannins, valeric acid, vitamin A, vitamin B 12, vitamin E and niacin.
