Juniper (Juniperus) Tincture

Product information "Juniper (Juniperus) Tincture"

Juniper Tincture (1:4)

Juniper (Juniperi communis fructus) tincture made from dried juniper berries

What is juniper tincture (Juniperus communis fructus)?

Many people know juniper as a seasoning for sauerkraut and game dishes. The blue-black fruits are commonly called berries, although botanically they are cones. They grow on the juniper shrub or tree. This member of the cypress family, with its pointed needles, can reach a height of up to 12 metres and can live for up to 600 years. Juniperus communis is found in North America, Europe and northern Asia, including open coniferous forests, heathland and moorland.

We use dried juniper berries for our tincture. The berries are selected, carefully dried and extracted with alcohol. This produces a liquid 1:4 extract, supplied in a practical dropper bottle. The product description focuses on the plant used, the manufacturing process, the composition and the clearly stated recommended intake.

Keeping tradition and product information separate

Juniper has long been used as a seasoning and is mentioned in historical and folkloric sources. Such traditions are of cultural interest, but they do not establish any health or medicinal effect of this food supplement. The declared ingredients, stated intake and information on the label are therefore the relevant points for assessing the specific product. The tincture is intended to supplement the daily diet and is supplied in a dropper bottle.

Groups of substances described in juniper berries include:
tannins, flavonoids, invert sugar and essential oils such as alpha-pinene, sabinene, myrcene and terpinene. This list describes the botanical raw material and is not a claim regarding an effect of the finished product.

Juniper tincture with a clearly described formulation

The formulation consists of an alcoholic extract from dried juniper berries, ethanol, purified water and traces of acetic acid from organic apple cider vinegar (less than 1%). The information on the product label is decisive for the composition.
