Product information "Stephania (Stephania tetranda) - Tincture"

Stephania Tetrandra Tincture (1:4)

Stephania tetrandra tincture – made from the dried root

What is Stephania Tetrandra?

Stephania tetrandra is a perennial climbing plant originally found in Taiwan and southern China, where it prefers to grow along village paths and roadsides. Under favorable conditions, the plant can climb to heights of up to 3 meters. Unlike many other climbing plants, Stephania tetrandra does not produce flowers. With its green, spirally arranged leaves, it somewhat resembles common ivy.

For our products, we use only the roots, as they contain the highest concentration of valuable compounds. As with all Phoenix der Lebenskraft products, purity, quality, and sustainability are our top priorities.

A true insider’s tip

Stephania tetrandra is considered one of the most valuable medicinal plants in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is prescribed by experienced practitioners under the name Han Fang Ji. As you may know, Chinese doctors and healers attribute specific properties to all foods and remedies. Stephania tetrandra is classified as bitter and cooling. Thanks to these qualities, the herb is traditionally used to protect nerve and blood vessel walls. In Taiwan and China, Han Fang Ji is also trusted for inflammation, internal heat, and balancing the body’s red fluids.

But what exactly is in Stephania tetrandra? Although not all components have been fully identified, it is known that the roots are rich in flavonoids, alkaloids, and tetrandrine. Flavonoids are plant compounds believed to provide strong protective effects for the human body, while tetrandrine, found in Stephania tetrandra, has muscle-relaxing properties.

You may also recognize the plant from the works of Stephen Harrod Buhner, who describes Stephania tetrandra as a supportive remedy for Lyme disease.
