What is true vervain (Verbena officinalis)?

Vervain occurs in both temperate and tropical regions around the world. This herbaceous plant is found in many parts of Europe and Asia, as well as in Australia and Africa. The traditionally used plant prefers hedges, pathsides and disturbed ground, especially sunny and sheltered locations with sandy loam or clay soils.

With a growth height of up to 75 cm and small pink, blue or violet flowers, vervain may appear rather unobtrusive at first glance - yet it is notably resilient. Verbena officinalis has been described in older herbal traditions; the name vervain has also been linked in historical sources with various folk interpretations.

For our products, we use dried, ground true vervain as the plant material for the extract. As you would expect from Phönix der Lebenskraft, we source our raw materials from carefully selected cultivation and pay attention to careful processing.

True vervain has a long tradition

Vervain has been described in European herbal traditions for a long time. In older sources, Verbena officinalis appears in different cultural and folk contexts, including as a plant associated with traditional herbal knowledge. These historical references describe former uses of the plant and are not intended as usage recommendations.

Today, this dietary supplement focuses on the practical use of a liquid vervain extract. The tincture can be dosed with the pipette and integrated into a daily nutrition routine for convenient everyday use.

What it contains:

Although the name may suggest otherwise, iron is generally not found in vervain. Instead, the traditionally used plant contains a range of plant-specific constituents, such as:

• Essential oils
• Tannins
• Alkaloids as plant-specific constituents
• Bitter substances as naturally occurring plant compounds
• Flavonoids as secondary plant compounds
• Silicic acid

Also contains traces of acetic acid from organic apple cider vinegar (below 1%) and pure water.

Vervain tincture recommended intake

The intended long-term daily dose is 280 drops (approx. 8.5 millilitres) per day, ideally divided into five intakes of about 56 drops each. Start initially with only 180 drops in total (approx. 5.5 millilitres) per day - or five times 36 drops - and then increase over several days to the long-term daily dose. Use the supplied pipette to count the drops.

The tincture is naturally cloudy and must be shaken before use.

Important: Contains 60% alcohol by volume. This product is strictly not suitable for pregnant women or when trying to conceive. Children and adolescents (12-18 years) can take 140 drops daily.
