The delicate medicinal plant with its mallow-like five-petaled flowers originates from Mexico and Central America. Today, however, Sida acuta can also be found in many other parts of the world. Because of its extraordinary ability to spread through its spiny seeds, it is considered an invasive weed by some. This may also be due to its strong and deep root system, which is difficult to remove by hand. The stems of the plant, which can grow up to two meters tall, become woody and extremely hard over time, making them difficult to break.
