Horsetail Tincture (1:4)
What is Horsetail (Equisetum arvense)?
Horsetail is a wild medicinal plant found throughout the Northern Hemisphere. Though it may appear modest, it is full of power. Horsetail is one of the few remaining plant relics from the Ice Age — a survivor thanks to its toughness and endurance. It already held great importance in ancient times, not only as a medicinal plant but also for cleaning pewterware, which is why it earned the nickname “tin herb.”
For our products, we use only ground herb from wild harvesting. Of course, we ensure the highest levels of quality and purity.
Sebastian Kneipp swore by Tin Herb
Although horsetail was highly valued in antiquity, this ancient healing plant was later forgotten. That changed when Sebastian Kneipp discovered his passion for horsetail. The famous herbalist praised its “versatile and excellent effects” for “internal and external ailments.” He was so impressed by its many possible uses that he referred to it as a “pain-relieving herb” and used it to strengthen connective tissue. He especially recommended horsetail for issues involving the body’s excretory organs.
Horsetail contains a powerful blend of important compounds, including:
- Flavonoids: Known as highly effective antioxidants that protect the body from free radicals.
- Potassium: A mineral that plays a key role in transmitting signals between body cells.
- Silicic acid: Important for skin, hair, nails, and connective tissue.
- Germanium: This forgotten trace element plays a key role in the body’s detoxification processes and is found in no other plant in such high concentration.
