Commonly known as Desert Parsley, this medicinal plant belongs to the Apiaceae (carrot/parsley) family – which is immediately recognizable by its characteristic double umbels of countless tiny flowers. Lomatium thrives primarily on forested slopes and can reach a height of up to 140 cm. Neither drought nor wildfires can easily harm this plant, as its deep taproot makes it highly robust and resilient. For the production of our Lomatium tincture, we follow traditional methods. Just like the indigenous peoples of North America, we use only the roots of the plant. These are carefully selected according to strict quality criteria, gently dried, and extracted with alcohol. This method ensures that all valuable constituents are released gently and preserved in their natural diversity. Although little known in the Western world, we owe much of our modern knowledge of Lomatium to Stephen Harrod Buhner, who highlighted its remarkable results in viral, bacterial, and fungal infections. In his book “Herbal Antivirals”, Buhner writes: “Despite the lack of virus studies, I and many others have found the herb to be highly effective for viral and bacterial respiratory infections, including pneumonia.
