You have probably seen red clover many times in your life. But did you know that this plant is more than just forage? The meadow clover from the legume family is easily recognized by its characteristic leaves and purple blossoms. It grows worldwide in fields, meadows, and light forests – essentially wherever soil conditions are right. Red clover thrives in nutrient-rich and deep loam or clay soils. If sufficient lime and sulfate are also present, the plant flourishes happily and can reach up to 80 cm in height. For our tincture, we use only red clover blossoms in accordance with traditional applications. These are harvested under strict quality standards, carefully dried, and extracted with alcohol. This ensures that all valuable compounds are gently released and preserved in their purest form. A popular medicinal plant in folk medicine Already in the Middle Ages, renowned herbalists held red clover in high regard. Hildegard of Bingen and later Madaus both mentioned the plant in their writings. Hildegard recommended meadow clover for “darkening of the eyes,” while Madaus prescribed it for chronic cough, breathing issues, stomach pains, joint problems, and constipation. Over the centuries, folk medicine discovered another use: menopause support. Due to its high content of phytoestrogens, red clover became a traditional remedy for a wide range of women’s health concerns.
