What is Baikal Skullcap?

Baikal Skullcap (Scutellaria baicalensis) is one of the most renowned plants in traditional Chinese medicine and is also highly valued in indigenous communities. Its appeal lies not only in its vibrant green leaves and delicate purple flowers but also in its resilience. The small purple blossoms resemble miniature helmets, which is how the plant got its name.

Growing up to 30 cm in height, Baikal Skullcap thrives in specific natural conditions — especially along rocky coastlines, riverbanks, and streams. Even the harsh winters of Siberia cannot harm it. Wild varieties are primarily found in China, Japan, Korea, and Mongolia.
