What is Devil's Claw (Harpagophytum procumbens)?

Admittedly, the name “Devil's Claw” may not sound particularly reassuring at first. However, the plant owes its name to its fruits, which develop from red-violet flowers. These fruits have gnarled projections that spread out like claws when the fruit is ripe.

The plant is originally native mainly to southern Africa. It prefers sandy steppe regions, such as those found in savannas and around the Kalahari Desert. During extremely dry periods, the plant no longer supplies its above-ground parts with water. Stems, leaves and flowers gradually die back, while the deep root remains. This branched root system consists of a thick primary root and many lateral roots. They serve as water and nutrient stores and are therefore referred to as storage roots. Their role for the plant explains why they are valued as a distinctive botanical raw material.

Careful handling of people and the environment matters to us. That is why we pay attention to quality and traceable care when selecting and processing the storage roots.

From a legal perspective, we are required to strictly advise against internal use, as we would otherwise be committing a criminal offense! However, we cannot prevent you from using this product at your own risk, even if that means using it contrary to its official designation. Artemisia Annua Tablets made from finely ground herb We offer these tablets for use in scent sachets and kindly ask that you follow the instructions below carefully. What is Artemisia Annua? We exclusively use plants that meet our strict quality standards. Artemisia Annua in Traditional Chinese Medicine Artemisia Annua has been used for over 2,000 years in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Its applications are diverse, and practitioners in Asia appreciate its supportive effects on the body’s immune system. While the human body can naturally detoxify and defend itself, it’s not always fully effective. TCM therefore uses the power of Artemisia Annua to help rid the body of unwanted intruders and to regenerate cells. Sweet Wormwood contains a broad range of plant compounds including bitter substances, essential oils, flavonoids, terpenes, antioxidants, and the unique compound artemisinin. This secondary metabolite is found only in Artemisia Annua. In 2015, the scientist Tu Youyou was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for her work on this remarkable substance. Artemisia Annua also has a particularly high mineral content, including potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and sulfur. Its amino acid profile is regarded as especially well-balanced. Cat's Claw (Uncaria tomentosa) - Tablets, 300 mg active ingredient

Cat's Claw tablets, 300 mg per tablet Cat's Claw tablets made from ground root bark Tablet size 16mm * 8mm Amount per tablet: 300 mg ground cat's claw root bark What is Cat's Claw (Uncaria tomentosa)? Cat's claw owes its name mainly to its appearance. When looking closely at the woody climbing plant, its resemblance to the claws of domestic cats is striking. Cat's claw is found particularly in Colombia, Ecuador, Trinidad, Venezuela, Costa Rica and many other countries with a tropical climate. The vine feels especially at home in dense vegetation. In search of sunlight, cat's claw climbs up trees and can reach a size of up to 100 metres. Its shoots bear opposite leaves. In between, slightly sickle-shaped curved thorns grow, recalling the plant's namesake. For our products, we use the root bark. This part of the plant has long been described in various traditional plant applications, including TCM. Cat's Claw in traditional plant applications Science has now described part of the constituent profile of cat's claw. These constituents include flavonoids, alkaloids, triterpenes, steroids and other plant components. This information describes the plant and does not constitute a promise of effect. In ethnobotanical literature and in traditions from the Amazon region, Uncaria tomentosa has been mentioned for a long time. Cat's claw is also described in traditional Chinese medicine and in botanical texts. Traditional references are presented here without disease-related applications or promises of effect. The focus is on botanical classification, the plant part used and the practical tablet form. If you are familiar with the writings of Stephen Harrod Buhner, cat's claw may be known to you as a plant described there. Cat's claw is a food supplement made from the root, more precisely the root bark, of this liana-like climbing plant native to South America, especially Peru.
