What is True Vervain (Verbena officinalis)?

Vervain is found in both temperate and tropical regions around the world. This herbaceous plant is native to large parts of Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa. The traditional medicinal herb prefers to grow along hedgerows, paths, and rubble sites, thriving in sunny, sheltered locations with sandy loam or clay soil.

With a growth height of up to 75 cm and its small pink, blue, or violet flowers, vervain may seem modest at first glance—but it is extremely resilient. This concentrated plant power was already appreciated in ancient times and used especially for healing stab wounds caused by iron weapons. That’s how the plant got its name: vervain ("Eisenkraut" = "iron herb").

True Vervain Has a Long Tradition

Vervain has a long-standing history of use. In addition to wound healing, ancient therapists valued vervain for many other benefits. It was also traditionally used for fever, coughs, colds, sore throats, and skin rashes. In traditional European medicine, vervain’s scope was expanded further—to include heart complaints, exhaustion, and joint pain. Healers and physicians believed that Verbena officinalis could even help harmonize the digestive organs (especially the liver and gallbladder) and support their daily function.

Despite its name, vervain does not actually contain iron. Instead, this traditional medicinal herb offers a broad spectrum of plant compounds, such as:

• Flavonoids (known as powerful antioxidants that protect the body from free radicals)

Vervain Tablet Ingredients

Also contains 2 common, safe cellulose-based excipients for tablet form stability: MCC / HPMC (plant-based origin), and a very small amount (only a few parts per thousand by weight) of the equally common and harmless substance magnesium stearate.

Recommended Use

The safe maximum daily dose is 9 (nine) tablets per day, taken with sufficient liquid. Start with only 4–5 tablets per day, and gradually increase to the full daily dose over several days. If you notice any unpleasant effects—though this is very rare (see warning section)—simply stay with the lower dosage that feels comfortable for you.

Dietary supplements are not a substitute for a balanced and varied diet or a healthy lifestyle. Store in a dry place, protected from heat and out of reach of children. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

Important: This product is strictly not suitable for pregnant women or women trying to conceive! Children over 12 and adolescents under 18 may safely consume 4–5 tablets daily instead of the full adult dose. In cases of extreme overdose, temporary stomach or liver discomfort may occur.
