What is Guarana (Paullinia cupana)?

Guarana is a climbing plant originally native to the South American rainforest. More precisely, it is a type of liana that belongs to the soapberry family. The plant can grow up to 10 meters high and thrives in warm, humid climates. Its whitish-yellow flowers develop into red fruits containing a black seed. This seed holds so much power that, as it grows, it often bursts through the red fruit shell. Indigenous Amazonian tribes call this seed “Wara,” meaning “fruit of youth.”

What’s inside?

The rainforest plant stands out for its high content of caffeine, theophylline, and theobromine. All three are known in the Western world as stimulants. Unlike coffee, however, the caffeine in guarana is released slowly—thanks to its high tannin content, which binds the caffeine. These tannins must first be broken down before the caffeine is released, allowing it to remain in the body for up to six hours and providing a steady energy boost. This is particularly gentle on the stomach lining and avoids the typical “crash” often experienced with coffee.

Also includes two commonly used and safe cellulose-based binders (MCC / HPMC) for tablet stability—both of plant origin—as well as a very small amount (only a few per mille by weight) of the equally common and safe substance magnesium stearate.

Take 4 tablets daily with sufficient liquid.
