What is Bidens pilosa (Hairy Beggarticks)?

Bidens pilosa is a South American plant now considered an invasive species found worldwide. Its widespread presence is primarily due to its extraordinary adaptability. The plant thrives in a variety of soil conditions—whether sandy, loamy, dry, or even depleted—and can even grow at altitudes of up to 3600 meters. Bidens pilosa tolerates intense heat, long periods of drought, and severe cold. It’s a true survivor, likely due in part to its competitive vigor. It can displace other plants—even aggressively—as it is allelopathic and produces compounds toxic to neighboring vegetation. In fact, it can reduce competing plant species by up to 50% and is considered a pest in some regions. All the more impressive, then, are its potential health benefits for humans.

The plant features beautiful white flowers with bright orange centers. Its name is derived from its seeds, which are thin, black, and tipped with a two-pronged spike. "Bi" means two and "dens" means tooth—hence "Bidens." These highly adhesive seeds easily cling to shoes, clothes, jackets, and animals, allowing the plant to spread effectively.

Bidens Pilosa Tablet Ingredients

Additionally, two standard, safe cellulose excipients are used: MCC / HPMC, both plant-based, to ensure tablet form stability. A very small amount (only a few per mille by weight) of magnesium stearate is also included, a common and safe ingredient.

Recommended Dosage

The maximum recommended dose is 7 (seven) tablets per day, taken with sufficient fluid and spread throughout the day.
