What is Indischer Morgenstern (Uncaria rhynchophylla)?

"Indischer Morgenstern", also known as Uncaria rhynchophylla, has a very distinctive, almost ancient appearance. Botanically, the plant belongs to the genus Uncaria and is known in Asian herbal literature as Gouteng. It grows as a climbing plant and uses hook-shaped structures to hold on to trees and shrubs.

These hook-shaped structures have a special place in traditional Chinese herbal literature. For our alcohol-free tincture, we use carefully selected plant material and a clear recipe based on vegetable glycerine, water and a small amount of organic apple cider vinegar.

Indian Starwort (Uncaria rhynchophylla) - 100g Powder

Indian Star Powder Indian Star (Uncaria rhynchophylla) Powder made from ground leaves and fruits What is Indian Star? The "Indian Star," botanically known as Uncaria rhynchophylla, may appear almost prehistoric at first glance with its greenish-fleshy leaves and hook-shaped appendages. Yet its true value lies within, as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has long recognized. Thanks to Stephen Harrod Buhner, this healing plant is also gaining increasing attention in the Western world. This unusual climbing plant belongs to the family of Uncaria lianas and is especially known in Japan and China as "Gouteng." It prefers dense thickets, using trees to wind around and climb. The grasping organs with which Gouteng holds onto trees are of crucial importance in TCM. That is why we use exclusively the claws of Indian Star for our products. As always, we rely on 100% natural ingredients from organic cultivation, free from chemicals. Traditional use and new findings Traditional Chinese Medicine uses Indian Star to calm liver heat and regulate wind. According to TCM, a disturbance in liver energy can lead to inner restlessness, irritability, and sleep disorders, while an excess of wind can cause increased mucus formation, particularly in the nerves, which in the long term may lead to nerve damage. In the Western world, Indian Star is gaining increasing importance, particularly due to the attention given by Stephen Harrod Buhner in his book "Healing Lyme Naturally." Buhner emphasizes the neurological and anti-inflammatory properties of Indian Star, especially in connection with neuroborreliosis. The valuable constituents of Indian Star include hirsutine, hirsuteine, rhynchophylline, isorhynchophylline, corynoxeine, isocorynoxine, tannins, and flavonoids. Ingredients Indian Star (Uncaria rhynchophylla) from the grasping organs "claws" of the liana Note We offer the powder as a botanical raw material (food grade) without any intended use.
