Indian Star (Uncaria rhynchophylla, also known as Gouteng) Tincture made from the claws
What is Indian Star (Uncaria rhynchophylla)?
Behind the melodious name “Indian Star” lies a plant that at first glance seems almost prehistoric. With its greenish-fleshy leaves, white spherical flowers, and hook-shaped appendages, Uncaria rhynchophylla may not appear particularly beautiful. Yet true beauty lies within, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) discovered the true value of Indian Star long ago. Thanks to Stephen Harrod Buhner, this healing plant is also gaining more and more recognition in the Western world.
Botanically, this unusual climbing plant belongs to the family of Uncaria lianas and is primarily known in Japan and China under the name Gouteng. Indian Star prefers dense thickets, winding its way up trees.
The grasping organs, with which Gouteng clings to trees, play a decisive role in TCM. That is why, for our products, we use exclusively the claws of Indian Star. As always with Phoenix der Lebenskraft, we rely on 100% natural and 0% chemical ingredients. All raw materials come exclusively from valuable organic cultivation.
Traditional use and new findings
Traditional Chinese Medicine uses Indian Star to calm liver heat and regulate wind. According to TCM, a disturbance of liver energy manifests as inner restlessness, irritability, and insomnia. An excess of wind is said to cause increased mucus formation. When this mucus accumulates in the nerves, it can eventually lead to nerve damage – according to Chinese folk medicine.
In the Western world, Indian Star is now receiving more attention. Its growing popularity is due to Stephen Harrod Buhner, who in his book “Healing Lyme Naturally” drew attention to the protective and beneficial constituents of Indian Star in relation to neuroborreliosis. According to Buhner, Indian Star possesses neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties.
Indian Star contains valuable constituents, including: hirsutine, hirsuteine, rhynchophylline, isorhynchophylline, corynoxeine, isocorynoxine, tannins, and flavonoids.

Sehr angenehme Wirkung
