Kudzu Root Powder
Kudzu (Pueraria lobata) powder made from the roots
What is Kudzu?
Here in Europe, the kudzu root plays only a minor role. But have you heard much about this fascinating medicinal plant? In Japan and China, kudzu has long been an important component of traditional medicine.
Since the plant originates in these regions, this may not be surprising at first glance. But when you consider the great potential hidden in its massive root, it is high time to make this secret more widely accessible. That is why you can now also find kudzu root with us — naturally in the usual high quality.
So, what kind of plant are we actually talking about? Botanically speaking, Pueraria lobata belongs to the legume family. That might sound rather unspectacular at first. But upon closer inspection, it quickly becomes clear that kudzu has little in common with beans and the like. This vigorous climbing plant can grow up to 20 meters in a single year, producing vines up to 12 meters long. Even more impressive are its roots, which can weigh as much as 35 kilograms. Its fragrant, purple flowers resemble countless small orchids.
For our kudzu tablets, we use only roots from valuable organic cultivation, in line with the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). These are grown under strict quality standards, carefully dried, finely milled, and gently processed into tablets.
The TCM Secret
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, kudzu root has long been valued and used. Experienced practitioners recommend it especially for lack of energy, digestive issues, and menopausal discomfort. Pueraria lobata is also traditionally used when there is a craving for external substances.
The spectacular phytochemicals of kudzu root contribute to its high reputation in its homeland. 5-HTP, for example, is a precursor of serotonin, the so-called “happiness hormone.” Isoflavones (daidzein and daizin) are phytoestrogens, which resemble human hormones in a remarkable way.
Kudzu root contains valuable compounds such as:
5-HTP, Puerarin, Quercetin, Genistein, Genistin, Isoflavones (Daidzein, Daizin), dietary fiber
