Kudzu tincture (1 : 4)

Kudzu (Pueraria lobata) tincture made from roots

What is kudzu?

In this part of the world, kudzu root still plays a rather modest role - or have you already heard a lot about this distinctive plant? In Japan and China, the picture is quite different. There, kudzu has long been known in traditional botanical practice.

As the plant also originates from this region, that may not be surprising at first glance. Anyone who looks more closely at the large root and its role in Asian herbal tradition will discover an interesting botanical classic. That is why you can now also find kudzu root with us - in our usual quality.

But what kind of plant are we actually talking about? Botanically, Pueraria lobata belongs to the legume family. That may sound rather unspectacular at first. On closer inspection, however, kudzu is only partly comparable with beans and similar plants. The climbing plant can grow up to 20 metres within a year and form tendrils up to 12 metres long. Its roots can also reach an impressive weight. Its fragrant purple flowers are reminiscent of many small orchids.

For our kudzu tincture, we use roots from organic cultivation in line with traditional Chinese herbal practice. They are grown according to strict quality criteria, carefully dried and processed for the production of the tincture.

The botanical classic from Chinese herbal tradition

Traditional Chinese herbal practice has known and valued kudzu root for a very long time. There, Pueraria lobata is traditionally described as a botanical raw material. For food supplements, we describe the plant neutrally as part of daily nutrition.

Looking at the characteristic constituents, it quickly becomes clear why kudzu root has a firm place in traditional botanical practice in its region of origin. The described plant constituents include 5-HTP and isoflavones such as daidzein and diazin. These details describe only the composition of kudzu root.

Kudzu root naturally contains plant constituents such as:

5-HTP, puerarin, quercetin, genistein, genistin, isoflavones (daidzein, diazin), fibre
