What is Lapacho (Tabebuia impetiginosa)?

Lapacho, also known as the “Tree of Life,” has gained recognition in Europe in recent years. For a long time, however, it remained a true secret remedy. This majestic tree grows mainly in semitropical regions such as northwestern Mexico and Argentina. Reaching heights of up to 50 meters, Lapacho impresses not only with its unique composition of nutrients but also with its striking appearance. Its dazzling blossoms range from bright pink to deep red. With a lifespan of up to 700 years, it is easy to understand why indigenous people call it the “Tree of Life.”

For our products, we use only the inner bark. Since both quality and sustainability are essential to us, harvesting is done carefully: only small pieces of bark are taken from trees at least 40 years old — when the concentration of active compounds is at its highest. The tree is then given several years to regenerate in peace. Importantly, no tree is felled for our products.

The Secret Weapon of the Incas

The Incas already knew about the unique power of their trees. Their descendants, the indigenous peoples of South America, continue to rely on this knowledge today. In its native regions, Lapacho has long been traditionally applied for a wide range of issues, including:

  • Chronic respiratory conditions
  • Stomach and intestinal discomfort
  • Joint problems
  • Tissue changes
  • Defense against unwanted intruders of all kinds

What’s Inside

Lapacho bark contains a unique combination of active compounds. It includes a special form of oxygen that the human body can utilize directly, helping to ward off intruders. Oxygen is also vital for nourishing your cells, maintaining the flexibility of blood vessels, and producing red blood cells.

About 60 years ago, the Argentinian botanist Dr. Theodore Meyer identified further compounds in Lapacho bark — a total of 12 quinones — which he described as making it a natural and holistic antibiotic. One of these, known as Lapachol, is found exclusively in Lapacho bark. The Munich researcher Bernhard Kreher also concluded that this ancient Inca remedy could strengthen the immune system by up to 50%.

Besides oxygen and quinones, Lapacho bark is rich in calcium, iron, and selenium. Calcium supports bone structure, iron is essential for oxygen transport, blood formation, and muscle strength, while selenium is a powerful antioxidant that helps neutralize free radicals and supports healthy thyroid function.

Cat’s Claw owes its name to its appearance. On closer inspection, this woody climbing vine bears curved thorns that strongly resemble the claws of a house cat. It is mainly found in Colombia, Ecuador, Trinidad, Venezuela, Costa Rica, and other tropical regions. In its native habitat, Cat’s Claw thrives in dense forest undergrowth. Seeking sunlight, it climbs trees and can reach an astonishing height of up to 100 meters. Along its shoots grow opposite leaves, and between them slightly sickle-shaped thorns emerge, giving the plant its distinctive name. In line with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), we use exclusively the root bark in our products, as this is considered to hold the highest potential. Since a healthy and sustainable lifestyle is central to our philosophy, we always ensure premium quality raw materials. Cat’s Claw in Indigenous Traditions and TCM Modern science has identified some of the key constituents of Cat’s Claw. Alongside flavonoids, alkaloids, and triterpenes, it also contains a wide range of steroids and other compounds. This diverse phytochemical profile helps explain why Uncaria tomentosa has been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years. Its alkaloids are thought to support immune modulation, triterpenes may help defend the body against unwanted intruders, and flavonoids are known to protect cells from oxidative stress. Indigenous peoples of the Amazon rainforest have long used Cat’s Claw for its broad spectrum of applications. It is particularly valued for its anti-inflammatory properties and is traditionally used to relieve chronic respiratory and joint inflammation. Even so-called “diseases of civilization” in the Western world — from aching joints to metabolic imbalances — are often addressed with Cat’s Claw. Some communities even rely on it in cases of severe cellular changes. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Cat’s Claw is applied in similar ways. Practitioners use it not only for the indications mentioned above but also for dizziness and circulatory imbalances. If you are familiar with the works of Stephen Harrod Buhner, you will know that he highlights Cat’s Claw as a core remedy in Lyme disease protocols. Cat’s Claw is a well-established dietary supplement made from the root bark of this South American climbing vine, native particularly to Peru. Tincture of Sweet Wormwood (Artemisia Annua) made from finely ground herb We offer this tincture exclusively as a room fragrance and kindly ask you to read and follow the information below carefully. What is Artemisia Annua? Artemisia annua, also known as Sweet Wormwood, is considered the “queen of medicinal plants.” Originally native to Asia, it is now cultivated in many parts of the world. The plant can grow up to 2 meters tall and is remarkably hardy, thriving even in poor soils — in fact, it prefers nutrient-deficient environments. In producing our products, we place great emphasis on the purity and sustainability of raw materials. We select only herbs that meet our strict quality criteria. Artemisia Annua in Traditional Chinese Medicine In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Artemisia annua has been used successfully for over 2,000 years. The applications in TCM are wide-ranging. Practitioners in Asia value the plant primarily for its impact on the body’s natural defense system. While the human body is generally capable of cleansing itself and fighting off harmful influences, it doesn’t always succeed entirely. That’s why TCM utilizes the strength of Artemisia annua to help the body eliminate unwanted invaders and restore cells to their natural state. Sweet Wormwood contains a wide array of active compounds, including bitter substances, essential oils, flavonoids, terpenes, antioxidants, and the unique compound **artemisinin**. This secondary plant metabolite is found exclusively in Artemisia annua. In recognition of her groundbreaking research on artemisinin, scientist **Tu Youyou** was awarded the **Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2015**. Artemisia annua is also known for its exceptionally high mineral density. It provides a rich source of essential minerals such as potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and sulfur. Its amino acid profile is also considered particularly well-balanced.
