Mistletoe Herb Tincture (1 : 4)
Mistletoe Herb (Viscum album L.) tincture made from the whole herb
What is Mistletoe Herb?
Viscum album L. belongs to the mistletoe family and is native to Europe and Scandinavia. These round-shaped shrubs grow high up in treetops, drawing fluids from their host trees. As semi-parasites, they can reach a diameter of up to one meter. From their small, inconspicuous blossoms grow milky-white berries between the evergreen leaves. Mistletoe has fascinated people since ancient times, valued especially for its role as a medicinal plant.
Used Plant Parts
For our tincture, we use the entire mistletoe herb. It is carefully dried, finely ground, and extracted with pure alcohol to gently dissolve all valuable constituents. The result is a naturally cloudy tincture, providing you with the full spectrum of bioavailable plant compounds.
Constituents
Lecithins, viscotoxins, flavonoids, lignans, biogenic amines, mucilage
Traditional Use
Mistletoe has been used as a healing plant since at least the 5th century BC. The earliest records stem from the 1st century AD, when Pliny recommended mistletoe for vertigo and seizures. Hippocrates prescribed it for strengthening the spleen. In European folk medicine, Viscum album is regarded as supportive for high blood pressure and arthritis. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), its applications overlap and further extend to conditions of the liver, kidneys, lungs, and heart.
