Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca) - 100 g powder

Product information "Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca) - 100 g powder"

Motherwort powder

Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca) powder made from the herb

What is Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca)?

Motherwort is known not only for its distinctive name, but also for its striking appearance. Along the square, hairy stem, heart-shaped leaves with a delicate down on the underside can be found. Countless purple, fluffy blossoms make the plant easy to recognise. Motherwort occurs from Europe to Iran and prefers nitrogen-rich soils near walls and fences.

Under suitable growing conditions, Leonurus cardiaca can reach a height of up to 120 centimetres.

For our products, we use the herb of the plant. As usual from Phönix der Lebenskraft, we source raw materials from selected cultivation and focus on careful processing and consistent quality.

Motherwort in historical herbals

When people think of the Middle Ages, they often think of a less developed way of life shaped by simple and harsh living conditions. At the same time, people in the 15th and 16th centuries collected extensive knowledge about plants and their everyday use.

Plant knowledge played an important role at that time. Motherwort was mentioned as early as 1485 in a book on plants (Gart der Gesundheit). Authors such as Paracelsus and Rembert Dodoens also described Leonurus cardiaca in their works. These historical references are provided for botanical context and are not intended as product-specific health claims.

The plant naturally contains various plant constituents, including:

  • Flavonoids
  • Bitter compounds
  • Betaines
  • Ursolic acid
  • Lenorium
  • Choline
  • Essential oils

These constituents shape the characteristic plant profile of Motherwort. Our finely ground powder is suitable as a plant raw material in food-grade quality for individual use or further processing.
