Houttuynia cordata (Heart-shaped Houttuynia) Tablets made from the ground herb

What is the heart-shaped Houttuynia (Houttuynia cordata)?

Houttuynia cordata is a perennial climbing plant whose stem grows along the ground. From it, upright stalks of about 35 centimeters rise. The plant owes its name to the heart-shaped leaves that grow on the stems. Whitish-green flowers with upright stalks also grow there.

Originally found in Nepal, India, China, Indochina, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, and Java, Houttuynia cordata has since spread as an invasive plant to other parts of the world. This is mainly due to the remarkable adaptability of heart-shaped Houttuynia. It thrives from sea level up to elevations of 2500 meters above sea level. However, the medicinal plant prefers cool and shady locations. The soil should be moist and loamy, which is why Houttuynia cordata is often found along streams and in forests.

For our products we use only the finely ground herb in pure and complete quality.

The heart-shaped Houttuynia in traditional use

Houttuynia cordata has a long tradition. According to indigenous populations, the plant is considered an irreplaceable remedy against diarrhea and infectious diseases. In Japan, the plant also holds a high status. There, people rely on heart-shaped Houttuynia as an important detoxifying agent. Its importance is reflected in its local name “dokudami,” which translates as “poison-blocking.”

Houttuynia cordata is also recommended by practitioners and doctors in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In TCM, the herb is classified as cold and pungent. It is mainly used to expel heat from the body, which, according to Chinese medicine, arises from an excess of Yang. This heat blocks important meridians such as the lungs and bladder, leading to inflammation in the lungs, sinuses, and the rest of the respiratory tract, as well as in the joints and excretory organs. By using heart-shaped Houttuynia, Yin and Yang are brought back into balance and body fluids can flow freely again.

The problem is not with the quality or processing of the product, but a legal one. Artemisia Annua has been banned as a dietary supplement within the EU — largely due to growing pharmaceutical lobbying. From a legal perspective, we are required to strictly advise against internal use, as we would otherwise be committing a criminal offense! However, we cannot prevent you from using this product at your own risk, even if that means using it contrary to its official designation. Artemisia Annua Tablets made from finely ground herb We offer these tablets for use in scent sachets and kindly ask that you follow the instructions below carefully. What is Artemisia Annua? Also known as Sweet Wormwood, Artemisia Annua is considered the queen of medicinal plants. This ancient herb originates from Asia but is now cultivated worldwide. It can grow up to 2 meters tall and thrives in many environments, especially in nutrient-poor soils. In producing our products, we place great value on purity and sustainability. We exclusively use plants that meet our strict quality standards. Artemisia Annua in Traditional Chinese Medicine Artemisia Annua has been used for over 2,000 years in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Its applications are diverse, and practitioners in Asia appreciate its supportive effects on the body’s immune system. While the human body can naturally detoxify and defend itself, it’s not always fully effective. TCM therefore uses the power of Artemisia Annua to help rid the body of unwanted intruders and to regenerate cells. Sweet Wormwood contains a broad range of plant compounds including bitter substances, essential oils, flavonoids, terpenes, antioxidants, and the unique compound artemisinin. This secondary metabolite is found only in Artemisia Annua. In 2015, the scientist Tu Youyou was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for her work on this remarkable substance. Artemisia Annua also has a particularly high mineral content, including potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and sulfur. Its amino acid profile is regarded as especially well-balanced. Cat's Claw (Uncaria tomentosa) - Tablets, 300 mg active ingredient

Cat’s Claw Tablets, 300 mg active ingredient Cat’s Claw (Uncaria tomentosa, Uña de Gato) tablets made from ground root bark Tablet size → 16 mm * 8 mm Active ingredient per tablet → 300 mg What is Cat’s Claw (Uncaria tomentosa)? Cat’s Claw owes its name to its appearance. On closer inspection, this woody climbing vine bears curved thorns that strongly resemble the claws of a house cat. It is mainly found in Colombia, Ecuador, Trinidad, Venezuela, Costa Rica, and other tropical regions. In its native habitat, Cat’s Claw thrives in dense forest undergrowth. Seeking sunlight, it climbs trees and can reach an astonishing height of up to 100 meters. Along its shoots grow opposite leaves, and between them slightly sickle-shaped thorns emerge, giving the plant its distinctive name. In line with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), we use exclusively the root bark in our products, as this is considered to hold the highest potential. Since a healthy and sustainable lifestyle is central to our philosophy, we always ensure premium quality raw materials. Cat’s Claw in Indigenous Traditions and TCM Modern science has identified some of the key constituents of Cat’s Claw. Alongside flavonoids, alkaloids, and triterpenes, it also contains a wide range of steroids and other compounds. This diverse phytochemical profile helps explain why Uncaria tomentosa has been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years. Its alkaloids are thought to support immune modulation, triterpenes may help defend the body against unwanted intruders, and flavonoids are known to protect cells from oxidative stress. Indigenous peoples of the Amazon rainforest have long used Cat’s Claw for its broad spectrum of applications. It is particularly valued for its anti-inflammatory properties and is traditionally used to relieve chronic respiratory and joint inflammation. Even so-called “diseases of civilization” in the Western world — from aching joints to metabolic imbalances — are often addressed with Cat’s Claw. Some communities even rely on it in cases of severe cellular changes. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Cat’s Claw is applied in similar ways. Practitioners use it not only for the indications mentioned above but also for dizziness and circulatory imbalances. If you are familiar with the works of Stephen Harrod Buhner, you will know that he highlights Cat’s Claw as a core remedy in Lyme disease protocols. Cat’s Claw is a well-established dietary supplement made from the root bark of this South American climbing vine, native particularly to Peru.
