Olive Leaf Tincture (1 : 4)
What are Olive Leaves (Olea europaea L.)?
While olive oil has long enjoyed a high reputation, olive leaves are still something of a hidden treasure in many parts of the world. Yet these modest leaves have a long tradition. Unlike olive oil, which is extracted from the fruit of the olive tree, the leaves are a pure, untreated natural product.
Olive trees have been cultivated since ancient times and can be found not only in the Mediterranean region but also in Asia Minor, Northwest Africa, and Egypt. These gnarled trees can live for up to 1,000 years and withstand even severe drought. With roots that reach up to 6 meters deep, they are able to draw vital nutrients and moisture even from the driest soil.
Unlike many other deciduous trees, olive trees do not shed their leaves in autumn. An olive leaf can remain on the tree for up to five years, absorbing the tree’s vital energy during that time.
For our products, we use only high-quality olive leaves from certified organic cultivation. This way we ensure you receive the maximum level of beneficial compounds.
Ancient knowledge rediscovered
Olive trees have played a major role on our planet for countless centuries. Archaeologists discovered fossilized olive leaves that are at least 2.5 million years old. No wonder these valuable leaves are steeped in tradition and are even mentioned in the Bible: “And the fruit thereof shall be for food, and the leaf thereof for healing” (Ezekiel 47:12).
Among the Pharaohs, the leaves were highly valued by healers worldwide, regarded as a symbol of heaven and used for a wide range of ailments. People of those times believed that olive leaves could ward off all intruders.
Even in the Middle Ages, the knowledge of these remarkable leaves persisted. Hildegard of Bingen successfully used them to support digestion and regulate high blood pressure.
What’s inside:
Olive leaves are rich in flavonoids, phenols, and a unique compound called oleuropein. Flavonoids are considered powerful antioxidants that help protect the body from free radicals. Phenols are also known for their antioxidant properties, helping to slow down the aging process and keeping inflammation in check. Oleuropein is the olive tree’s own natural defense system against unwanted intruders.
