Thoroughwort Tincture (1:4)
Thoroughwort (Eupatorium perfoliatum) tincture made from the leaves
What is Thoroughwort?
Thoroughwort is a plant from the aster family (Asteraceae) and has a truly unique appearance. Have you ever seen a plant where the leaves seem to grow criss-crossed along the stem? With Eupatorium perfoliatum, it even looks as if the stem is growing right through the leaves themselves.
This plant is mainly found in the eastern regions of the USA and Canada. Locals affectionately refer to it as “feverwort” or “boneset.” It typically grows near streams and in wetlands, as thoroughwort prefers moist soil with good quality. Given sufficient sunlight, it can reach heights of up to 90 cm.
For our product, we use only the leaves of Eupatorium perfoliatum. They are gently dried and extracted with pure alcohol. As with all products from Phoenix der Lebenskraft, we pay close attention to the highest standards of purity and quality – from the selection of raw materials to the final tincture.
Popular Among Native Americans
Native American peoples still retain much ancestral knowledge about the power of nature – knowledge many in industrialized nations have forgotten. Thoroughwort is a shining example of this folk wisdom. Even today, this traditional healing herb is used in North American herbal medicine to support physical well-being. Its traditional names, “feverwort” and “boneset,” highlight its historical importance. Experienced shamans and medicine men also recommend it for fatigue, weakness, coughs, and congestion.
Renowned herbalist Stephen Harrod Buhner highlights the plant's potential in his book “Herbal Antivirals,” shedding light on its powerful traditional uses, especially in support of the body’s natural defenses.
Thoroughwort contains a wide array of natural compounds, including:
Methylglucuronoxylan, astragalin, eupatoriin, eupatoriatorin, euperfolin, euperfolid, eucannabinolide, hyperoside, rutin, tannins, wax, polysaccharides, guaianolides, and flavonoids.
Ingredients
This aromatherapy tincture is an alcoholic extract from the leaves of Thoroughwort. Extraction medium: Ethanol (65% vol). Contains traces of acetic acid from organic apple cider vinegar (less than 1%) and purified water.
