What is Red Clover (Trifolium pratense flos)?

You have probably seen red clover many times in your life. But did you know that this plant is more than just forage? The meadow clover from the legume family is easily recognized by its characteristic leaves and purple blossoms. It grows worldwide in fields, meadows, and light forests – essentially wherever soil conditions are right. Red clover thrives in nutrient-rich and deep loam or clay soils. If sufficient lime and sulfate are also present, the plant flourishes happily and can reach up to 80 cm in height.

For our tincture, we use only red clover blossoms in accordance with traditional applications. These are harvested under strict quality standards, carefully dried, and extracted with alcohol. This ensures that all valuable compounds are gently released and preserved in their purest form.

A popular medicinal plant in folk medicine

Already in the Middle Ages, renowned herbalists held red clover in high regard. Hildegard of Bingen and later Madaus both mentioned the plant in their writings. Hildegard recommended meadow clover for “darkening of the eyes,” while Madaus prescribed it for chronic cough, breathing issues, stomach pains, joint problems, and constipation. Over the centuries, folk medicine discovered another use: menopause support. Due to its high content of phytoestrogens, red clover became a traditional remedy for a wide range of women’s health concerns.

Trifolium pratense flos contains valuable compounds such as: isoflavones (phytoestrogens like biochanin A, genistein, daidzein), tannins, flavonoids, essential oils, minerals, vitamins, rhodanide, and proteins.

This dietary supplement contains no artificial coloring, no flavoring, no added sugars, no lactose, and no gluten.

Additionally contains traces of acetic acid from organic apple cider vinegar (less than 1%) and purified water.

Recommended use

The intended long-term daily dose is 260 drops (approx. 8 ml), ideally divided into four servings of about 65 drops each. Start with only 160 drops (approx. 4.9 ml) per day – or four servings of 40 drops each – and gradually increase over several days until reaching the full daily dose. Use the included pipette to count the drops.

Notes

Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced and varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Store protected from heat, in a dry place, and always keep out of reach of children. The recommended daily intake should not be exceeded. The tincture is naturally cloudy and must be shaken before use.

Important: Contains 60% alcohol by volume. Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women, or for women with estrogen-dependent neoplasms. Children over 10 years of age can safely take the same low maximum daily dose (according to recognized phytotherapy literature), provided the relatively low alcohol content is well tolerated.
