Yarrow Tincture (1:4)
What is Yarrow Herb (Achillea millefolium)?
This traditional medicinal plant owes its name to its popularity among sheep, who have made it one of their favorite foods. But what benefits animals also supports human well-being in a special way. The powers of yarrow are already hinted at in its Latin name: Achillea. According to legend, the Greek hero Achilles used yarrow to heal wounds.
Though the plant may appear modest with its height of up to 60 cm and its small, aromatic white blossoms, it holds remarkable potential within.
Yarrow grows throughout Europe, as well as in northern Asia and North America. It is a true sun lover and thrives best in dry soils. You’ll often find it in meadows, pastures, and along roadsides. This hardy herb can withstand both cold and heat—even drought. However, there is one thing it cannot tolerate: excessive fertilization. Yarrow is truly a plant of nature.
For our products, we use only finely ground yarrow herb, where the spectrum of active ingredients is highest. As always with Phönix der Lebenskraft, our raw materials are sourced exclusively from ecologically sustainable cultivation. We consistently prioritize the highest quality and purity.
A medicinal plant with tradition
Since antiquity, yarrow has held a firm place among medicinal herbs. Physicians and healers prescribed it for loss of appetite and to support digestive organs. The bitter compounds it contains can assist the liver, gallbladder, and pancreas in producing digestive juices. Yarrow has also traditionally been used for digestive disturbances and to help with cramping pains in the stomach and intestines.
What’s inside:
Yarrow contains:
- Essential oils (especially proazulene and chamazulene; proazulene can soothe irritated mucous membranes)
- Flavonoids (powerful antioxidants that protect the body from free radicals)
- Tannins and bitter compounds (stimulate digestive activity)
